The book reports the results of a multi-year research project in rural Maine schools, initiated and funded by the Cobscook Institute, and designed and implemented by Trauma Responsive and Equitable Education (TREE). The authors focus on whole-school change, encouraging educators to upend traditional classroom power dynamics by listening foremost to student voices, validating student experiences, and promoting student agency.
