He has been a lifelong educator, taught at Ryslinge Højskole, Denmark for 35 years, 1974-2009, in Pedagogic/Education and Politics. International manager of World Class NGO and EU-Projects. Member of the Association for Folke Højskoler, FFD in Denmark since 1974.

Noela Altvater is the Vice President of AWE, elected during the ICM held at IPC in Denmark in July 2025. She is affiliated with the Cobscook Institute and belongsPassamaquoddy community in Maine, USA. Noela is highly engaged in her community, working actively to protect local culture and advocate for human rights.

Sujit is the Vice-Principal/Deputy Dean of the Institute of Rural Reconstruction at the Visva Bharati, a Central Universityat Santiniketan, West Bengal. Sujit has researched and written extensively about rural education and sustainability . He is very passionate about the arts. He lives in West Bengal, India.

May is a grassroots educator from the Philippines. Her 38 years of experience in development work includes working with sectors like the farmers, fisherfolks, women, indigenous people, persons with disabilities, urban poor/informal settlers, marginal handicrafts producers/artisans, and Muslims in Mindanao Island of the Philippines, in the fields of leadership formation and empowerment, education advocacy, adult learning and education, community-based socio-economic enterprises, environmental protection, gender and development, and local governance. She also writes modules and workbooks for grassroots education.
Gina Nzeba Tshiswaka Hagebro

Gina Nzeba Tshiswaka Hagebro. Member of AWE Danish chapter and International member 2022.
She was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has been living in Denmark since 1998. She participated autumn of 1998 in a five-month NGO Management program at The Danish Ryslinge Højskole's international World Class Project. Gina has a bachelor's in social education and a diploma in social work from the University College of Copenhagen. She works now as a Family therapist with families, young people, and children, in Furesø Community, Copenhagen. DK. She is the founder and front woman of the NGO Congos Børn in Danmark and the founder of NGO Maison VIGALEX in Kinshasa in DR.CONGO. These 2 NGOs are in close collaboration with each other and the goals are to provide a better life for the kids living in the street in DR.Congo.
