2025 INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING OF AWE

Introduction and Welcome:

This letter carries the registration and program detail needed for members and friend of Association for World Education’s (AWE) to attend this year’s International Council Meeting (ICM) being held this July 14 - 19, 2025 in Denmark.

AWE held its last ICM in October 2022 in Cairo, Egypt.  At that time, we had just left a period with a global pandemic, COVID-19.  The events and conditions for this year's ICM are very different but also serious, perhaps in more dangerous and challenging ways. Wars are taking place in Europe, the Middle East, and in Central and Northeast Africa. The threats to democracy in the USA and around the world impact and destabilize conditions around the globe. And, at the same time, public education in many places worldwide is being threatened, compromised, or even taken away.

AWE is an NGO with consultancy status with the United Nations. It serves as a vitally important global network of people committed to meeting these challenges through creative and spirited initiative. The work we do in our day-to-day lives is supported and enhanced through the connections we build through AWE. Please join us for this year’s International Council Meeting.

We hope to see you there.

Reghu Rama Das (India) &

Kirsten Bruun (Denmark)

Co-Chairs of the AWE Presidency.

How to prepare

  • A presentation about the state of your country (max 15. Min)

Scholarship opportunities

1. Anyone seeking a scholarship should be up to date with their membership fees (either individually or through an institution or chapter)
2. Anyone seeking a scholarship should have engaged in at least one AWE-related activity in the past three years, or have contributed at least once to AWE’s Annual Report or one of our newsletters.

Scholarships are intended to help cover some of the expenses associated with attending the ICM.  For as long as funds are available, scholarships of a maximum of $250 USD will be awarded on a need basis.

Scholarships are limited in number to four people from a single region or country (whichever is smaller).

If you want to apply for a scholarship, you have to send an application to the treasurer, Alan Furth: alanfurth2@gmail.com by June 1, 2025 explaining your scholarship needs and your goals for participating in the ICM.
