The Association for World Education is pleased to be able to contribute to the programs available as part of the United Nations International Day of Education 2026, taking place world-wide on January 24, 2026.
Partner organizations around the globe are connecting their local work with the established UN theme “AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World” as well as highlighting their continued efforts to promote local, regional, and global progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Description: Congos Børn and VIGALEX will hold an online meeting focusing on the children at Maison VIGALEX in Kinshasa, DR Congo, their general wellbeing, and their education. Since the summer, Maison VIGALEX has grown from 6 to 15 children, with 7 children attending school and 8 children receiving home-based education Our goal is to better understand both the challenges and the success stories related to the children’s learning, care, and daily lives. This meeting takes place on the United Nations International Day of Education, underlining our shared commitment to children’s right to education and wellbeing.

Event: Farmers’ Training on the use of AI in Urban Micro Farms

Event Name: Open Public Debate Meeting on the Status of the Municipality of Svendborg’s Adoption and Transformation Across all Sectors of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals

Description of event: The partnership project ‘Svendborg for the Goals’, introduced in 2019, remains a community SDG-educational model of how the 17 SDG could be adopted. The time has come to evaluate the status of that project by looking into local impact and a possible new process. New developments include the introduction of “collaborative governance” policies on resilience and “comprehensive security” concepts being introduced in Scandinavian and Nordic countries, including Finland.
